Your dentist will start by creating imprints of your teeth to make sure the trays fit accurately. These imprints are sent to a laboratory to craft the trays, and when they are finished, you will need to come in for another appointment to make sure they fit correctly. You will also be given the whitening gel. Normally you use the trays with the gel for two weeks, or as guided by your dentist. All the options will be discussed with you.
Most people can benefit from tooth whitening, however if you have dental crowns or veneers that match your current tooth shade, the whitening gel will not change the colour of those teeth. Therefore, it is wise to talk to your dentist before beginning the treatment, as they may need to be replaced to coordinate with your new tooth colour.
