Same Day Immediate Dental Implants in London
What Are Same Day Dental Implants?
Same-day dental implants, also known as an immediate dental implant, in which implants and restorations are placed in a single appointment. They are designed to fulfil the demand of immediate aesthetics and function without compromising daily activity, such as in case of dental trauma or fall that causes fractured teeth.
Dental Care Centre is London’s largest dental clinic, with the most experienced implant specialist team that expertly restores patient smiles on the same day. Our expert oral and implant specialist uses premium-quality implants and fabricates a temporary restoration to restore the aesthetic and functional needs until the dental implant heals completely. After complete osseointegration, the final restoration is fabricated.
Same Day Implants Requirements
To be considered a good candidate for a same-day implant procedure, some requirements are needed to ensure implant success. These requirements include:
- Good oral hygiene
- No existing periodontal or gingival inflammation
- Adequate bone support to ensure initial implant retention
- Healthy patients with no medical conditions that interfere with healing, such as uncontrolled diabetes
- No destructive habits, such as bruxism
Same Day Implant Procedure
The same-day implant procedure requires a thorough clinical examination of the oral conditions using digital X-rays. In addition, medical history is collected to ensure you are a good candidate for the procedure.
If you are a good candidate, our implant experts will prepare a suitable treatment plan considering all the data collected. The treatment plan will include the implants’ location, number, and size.
Our professional surgeons take the impression to fabricate a temporary restoration with the help of advanced technology. 3D dental printers fabricate temporary restoration to be loaded on the immediate load implants so the patient can get a confident smile on the same day without compromising daily activity.
The temporary restoration is fabricated from acrylic resin that is more prone to discolouration and breakage. It is advised to follow a soft diet regimen to maintain the temporary restoration until the final restoration fabrication.
The goal behind temporary restoration fabrication is to promote the gingival healing around the implant and to restore the function and aesthetics until complete osseointegration.
Complete osseointegration occurs after 3-4 months. At this point, the final restoration can be fabricated.
Recovery after Same Day Implant
It is essential to follow the postoperative instructions following a same-day implant to allow for a smooth, uncomplicated recovery. The instructions involve:
- Maintain regular oral hygiene through daily brushing and flossing
- Follow a soft diet and avoid hard food to reduce excessive forces on the temporary restoration
- Maintain regular check-ups to monitor implant healing and intervene if any problem arises.

FAQs
The same-day implant procedure is a technique where the missing tooth or extracted tooth is replaced with an implant and restoration on the same day. The restoration is temporary to restore function and aesthetics until complete healing, where the final restoration is fabricated.
In general, the healing of a dental implant requires around 3-4 months. In traditional implants, the restoration is constructed after the complete healing of the implant, while in same-day implants, a temporary restoration with certain specifications is loaded on the same day of implant placement, and the final restoration is fabricated after complete healing.
A same-day implant requires certain features to guarantee success, including being healthy, non-smoking, good oral hygiene, free from any active periodontal inflammation, and having a sufficient amount of bone at the implant site.
An all-on-4 dental implant technique allows for the immediate loading of a temporary restoration on the same day of implant placement. The load distribution on four implants favours the implant healing without risk.
Dental implants can be placed on the same day of extraction in some cases. This will help preserve the jaw bone and avoid post-extraction resorption.
The temporary restoration will be used for 4-6 months until osseointegration between the bone and the implant surface is completed. During this time, the temporary restoration will restore the masticatory function, speech, and aesthetics and promote the gingival healing around the implant.
It is advised to continue your oral hygiene habits as usual, such as brushing and flossing twice a day. Avoid hard or sticky food to avoid restoration fracture. If you use a nightguard during sleep, wear it as usual to avoid applying too much stress on the temporary restoration.
Same-day implant surgery is conducted under local anaesthetic effect to provide patient comfort. After anaesthesia wears off, you may experience minor pain and discomfort that last for a few days. This can be controlled through the prescribed medications.
Same-day implants, when planned correctly and the right candidate is chosen, show similar success rates to conventional implants.
The cost for same-day implants depends on several factors, such as the number of implants used, implant type, and case complexity. Same-day implants may be more expensive than conventional dental implants due to the high cost of the advanced technology used. However, this high cost is rewarded with immediate restoration of function and aesthetics. Consult our implant experts to learn more about the estimated cost and our payment plans.
