What is the treatment of full-mouth dental implants?

Treatment plan

Full-mouth denture implant is a step-wise process. The Dental Care Centre is the London dental clinic that provides satisfied dental treatment beyond expectations. our expert implant specialist follows each step to ensure effective and comfortable full-mouth dental implants placement.

Initial assessment

Careful initial assessment is necessary to design a comprehensive treatment plan. Our expert dentist carefully examines the oral health, and bone condition of the patient and takes a complete medical and dental history. For accurate diagnosis of bone health, our dental specialist also recommends 3D scans such as cone beam radiographs and OPG.

Consultation

The initial assessment helps in identifying the specific need for full-mouth dental implant placement. Our expert oral and implant surgeon explains all the available treatment options to the patient their advantages, and associated risks so the patients can choose better treatment for them. They also explain each step of full mouth dental implant treatment from implant placement to final restoration placement and clear all concerns about dental implant surgery.

Treatment plan

Our expert dentist makes a treatment plan for full-mouth denture implants based on radiological findings and initial assessment, according to the patient’s dental need and jaw bone density, our dentist strategically designs a treatment plan such as all-on-4 and all-on-6 dental implant, zygomatic implant or hybrid implant. In some cases, extraction of decayed tooth root, and bone grafting are also needed before dental implant placement.

Implant placement

On the day of the surgery, our dentist comforts the patient with local anesthesia or other sedition and starts the surgery with an incision in jaw soft tissue and places 4 or 6 implants according to the treatment plan and the patient’s dental need. After successful placement of the implant in the bone sutures are applied and temporary Restoration is placed over the implant and give postoperative instructions.

Healing period

Ideally, 2 to 4 months are required for complete integration of the implant with the surrounding jaw bone. Successful complete healing is important for the stability of the full-mouth dental implant and is dependent upon oral hygiene maintenance and proper follow-up of post-operative instructions.

Prosthetic impression

After complete healing, our prosthodontist takes an impression for the fabrication of prosthetics, impression records all the details of the implant placed surface, to fabricate a better fitting restorative prosthetics with natural appearance and function.

Final placement of full mouth denture implant

As the restorative prosthetic is fabricated from the laboratory, our prosthodontist sets an appointment for the final restorative prosthetic placed over implants, checks the fitting of the final restoration, performs any adjustments if needed, and gives Instructions to maintain good oral hygiene and regular visits.

What are the different types of full-mouth dental implant procedures available, and how do they vary in terms of technique and outcomes?

Different types of procedures are used to place full-mouth dental implants, the selection of a specific type depends upon the dental need of the patient oral health and bone density. After careful examination and comprehensive diagnosis, our dental specialist recommends a specific type of procedure according to patients’ dental health for replacing missing teeth with full-mouth dental implants.

All-on-4 dental implant

All-on-4 dental implants are commonly used for better stability and durability in full-mouth dental implant placement. In this type of full-mouth dental implant, four implants are surgically placed in each arch bone at the appropriate angle and location of the jaw bone. This type of implant placement reduces the need for additional bone grafting surgery.

All-on-6 dental implant

This type of full-mouth dental implant technique is used in extensive teeth loss conditions. In all-on-6 dental implants, the functional load is distributed on 6 implants which improves implant stability and durability. It improves restorative prosthetics support and gives better aesthetics and teeth function.

Zygomatic Implant

This technique of full-mouth dental implants utilizes the zygomatic bone for implant placement in extensively resorbed upper jaw bone conditions. Our expert surgeon carefully placed an implant in the zygomatic bone to avoid bone grafting.

Implant-supported dentures

In this technique of full-mouth dental implants, fixed implants are integrated into the jaw bone, and a removable restorative denture is placed to restore function and aesthetics. It is easy to maintain hygiene with hybrid dentures or removal implant-supported dentures.

FAQs

Generally, every missing tooth is replaced with a single implant. However, in the case of full mouth restoration, four or six implants are used to restore the whole arch.

Full-mouth dental implants provide a durable solution to solve the problem of a full arch missing teeth. Full arch dental implant beats conventional dentures in offering a stable, retentive restoration, which increases self-esteem and expands your food choices.

Yes, dental implants can be loaded on the same day of implant placement. However, this technique is not suitable for everyone. Our implant experts will thoroughly examine the existing bone condition to determine if you are a good candidate for same-day implants.

Dental implants require around 4-6 months to heal and reach a complete osseointegration between the dental implant surface and the surrounding bone. The final restoration can be fabricated after healing.

Dental implant insertion surgery is performed under local anesthesia in combination with sedation is required. So you will not feel any pain during surgery. After surgery, you may experience mild discomfort for a few weeks that subsides gradually. Our dental experts will prescribe painkillers to help you with any pain.

It is advised to avoid crunchy, chewy, and sticky food after surgery, to avoid healing disruption. Once complete osseointegration occurs, the final restoration is loaded, and there will be no food restrictions.

You may feel a weird sensation at the beginning with dental implants until you get used to them. After 1-3 months, you will feel dental implants as normal as natural teeth.

During the first few weeks after surgery, it is recommended to use a soft diet to allow for smooth healing of the dental implants. After complete healing and final restoration fabrication, you can eat normally without restrictions.

You can care for your dental implants just like your natural teeth. It is mandatory to keep regular hygiene measures through brushing twice daily. If you are provided with a fixed restoration, a water flosser may be beneficial to clean under the restoration. If you have a removable denture, remove it before sleep, brush it, and store it in water or a denture cleaning solution.

You should maintain regular check-ups with our experts every six months to maintain the health of your dental implants. Although the restoration of a full mouth implant cannot decay, the health of the soft tissues around the dental implants is essential for the durability of your dental implants. During regular check-ups, our implant experts will search for any signs of inflammation around your dental implants to prevent any damage.

Before I found Dr. Mani, I was terrified of going to the dentist and would put off appointments for as long as possible. But from the very first visit, he completely changed my perspective. Dr. Mani is incredibly kind, gentle, and understanding. He truly listens and goes out of his way to make you feel comfortable.

His expertise and skill are unmatched – I barely felt a thing during my procedures, and he always explains everything in a way that’s clear and reassuring. You can tell he genuinely cares about his patients and wants the best for them.

Thanks to Dr. Mani, I no longer dread dental visits. In fact, I actually look forward to seeing him and his wonderful team. If you’re nervous about the dentist, he is the one to go to – I can’t recommend him enough. Truly the best dentist I’ve ever had.

I joined the dental care centre almost 2 years ago and for the first time sought treatment for my wonky cross bite teeth. Dr Romain Prasad recommended me the Invisalign treatment and the results have been outstanding and beyond what I expected. Dr Prasad made sure to take extra care and explained every step of the process which I appreciated a lot having never had braces or orthodontic care before. The treatment has given me the confidence to show my teeth as I smile and I couldn’t appreciate more the service provided by Dr Prasad and the Dental Care Centre. For anyone looking for dental care in London this is the place to be.

My visit to the Dental Care Centre on Friday was a very happy experience, the surgery was very clean, receptionists very friendly and my dentist was very attentive.. I only had a check up, with work suggested for my follow up appointment, but I felt I was in good hands and i am someone who has an inbuilt fear of dentists.. recommended
